ASPIRe Study

The ASPIRe trial compared three different surgical approaches for treating prolapse in women who had a hysterectomy in the past. Women who had symptoms related to their prolapse and wanted surgical correction. The three surgeries were mesh-augmented repairs done through an abdominal approach, a vaginal approach, and vaginal approach with suture only. Both mesh procedures had similar rates of treatment failure at the end of the study with both the mesh procedures having lower failure rates than the suture only repair. All three surgeries improved symptoms. The safety profiles were similar in all groups.
